If you earn a yearly salary enter that in the third row, above the words "per year." If you are paid by the hour, use the fourth row, above the words "per hour." If you enter both, the salary amount will be used.

Use the left-hand column to enter your information. An example item (DVD Player) is filled out to the right. These are just pictures presented as an example. You do not need to (and cannot) edit the values of the input boxes in the right-hand column.

When you've entered all the required information, press the grey "Calculate" button.

On this page the results of your calculation are presented. The "When Can I Afford It?" Calculator will show you the amount of time needed to earn enough money to pay for your desired item, and will predict a date by which you will have done so (based on standard working hours).

Choosing "Recalculate This Item" will return you to the Input page with the same values used for this calculation. Choosing "Calculate A New Item" will clear those values and then return you to the Input page.

None of the information entered in the "When Can I Afford It?" Calculator is collected or used for any purpose other than for the calculations presented on the Results page. Any email addresses entered to send summaries or "tell-a-friend" messages are used to send the requested one-time message only. The addresses are not collected or used for any other purpose. No other personally identifiable information is requested by or available to this site.
